Behind the Lens: How Max Captures Qvillas

Behind the Lens: How Max Captures Qvillas

Behind the Lens with Max Rouwenhorst

Before someone ever steps inside a Qvillas villa, chances are they have already stood beside the pool, looked across the terrace and taken in the view.

At least, that is what good real estate photography should make you feel.

Photography is often the very first introduction someone has to a property. For a vacation villa, the images should help guests imagine themselves there. For a property for sale, they should create curiosity while still giving an honest impression of the home.

For more than a year, we have worked with Max Rouwenhorst to capture exactly that.

Photographing a property is about more than a wide-angle lens

A home can look incredible in person and still feel completely flat in a photograph.

Light, perspective, weather and timing can make an enormous difference. Sometimes the view is the most important feature of a villa. In another property, it may be the way the living room opens onto the terrace. And sometimes the character lies in details that are easy to overlook.

The challenge is not simply to photograph every room. It is to understand what makes the property special.

The light of Bonaire

Bonaire certainly makes the job a little easier.

The bright natural light, the contrast between white, green and blue, and of course the Caribbean Sea create a unique setting for photography.

At the same time, strong sunlight also makes timing important. A terrace can feel completely different in the morning than later in the afternoon. The same applies to views, swimming pools and interiors.

Those are the moments where experience behind the camera makes the difference. The image that starts the story Max’s photographs can be seen throughout Qvillas, from property presentations and brochures to our website and social media.

The final image should be beautiful, but above all believable.

Because in the end, we do not want someone to think: That is a beautiful photograph. We want them to think: I want to be there.

That is why this time, we are not only putting our properties in the spotlight, but also the person who captures so many of them through his lens.

Max, thank you for more than a year of beautiful images of Qvillas and Bonaire.
