Bonaire is a small island located in the southern Caribbean, known as a paradise. This amazing island is known for its stuning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Bonaire also has much to offer in terms of sports. In these blogs we give you tips and facts about the beautiful island!

Protecting Sea Turtles in Bonaire

Bonaire is known for its turquoise waters, coral reefs, and relaxed island lifestyle. Beneath the surface, however, lives something truly special: sea turtles that return to the island’s beaches year after year to nest.

At Qvillas, we are proud to support Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire (STCB) as a sponsor, helping protect these remarkable animals and the fragile ecosystem they depend on.

Protecting sea turtles on Bonaire

Bonaire is home to green turtles, hawksbills, and loggerheads. These species play an important role in maintaining healthy coral reefs and seagrass ecosystems.

Their survival is increasingly threatened by coastal development, pollution, climate change, and disturbance on nesting beaches. STCB therefore works year-round to monitor and protect nests across the island, including Klein Bonaire and Playa Chikitu.

A new loggerhead nest

Recently, a new loggerhead nest was discovered on Klein Bonaire. A protective barrier was placed immediately to keep it safe, and the hatchlings are expected to emerge in early August.

Each nest represents hope and the continuation of a species that has existed for millions of years.

Why this matters to Qvillas

Through our partnership with STCB, we help support the protection of sea turtle nests on Bonaire. For our guests, it adds extra meaning to their stay — combining comfort and luxury with a deeper connection to the island’s nature.

We are proud to support STCB and their important work.
